We've paired 2 bottles of Vintage Port each 750ml - a 1994 Smith Woodhouse with a 1995 Cockburn's to keep you warm on the cold winter nights ahead! They are a gift of long time Umoja supporter, Charlotte Galloway and have been consistently cellared since purchase.
The Smith Woodhouse is a serious Port in the making, with dark currant paste, warmed fig sauce and blackberry reduction flavors pouring through. The brambly grip is deeply embedded and there are gorgeous ganache and licorice snap notes hanging on the finish. Hefty and broad, yet this has cut and energy in reserve. Best from 2035 through 2055.
The Cockburn's is described as "very much Cockburn" with the color a dark saturated ruby, the aromas combine meat, chocolate and plum. Côrte-Real says that the vintage was even hotter than '94 during harvest and fermentation, and some of that shows in the finished wine's hint of raisined fruit...lots of plums and respberries Creamy, ripe tannins and a hint of pepper mark the finish. Ready to enjoy now!
